After they discarded those elements that are unique, nontypical and instantaneous, and singled out the permanent elements they reconstructed a portrait of a person by way of placing all these elements together under different angles. This allowed them to picture a person irrespective of the moment of time, the season, clothes, perspective or mood. This way they claimed to reveal the real essence of the person portrayed.<\/p>\n

The device of simultanism<\/strong> widely exploited by futurists presupposed arranging the elements as if taken from different angles AND at different moments of time. Several heads, several pairs of hands etc. made it possible to trace the movement of a person, and the forms that constituted the portrait assumed the space-time quality.
