What you look for in a painting is that it should look good in your house. You don’t believe in digging for beauty in a pile of dirt. A painting should be pleasing the eye, it should adorn the interior and make you feel good when drinking morning coffee. You can’t lose with nature.

Commercial landscapes are always audacious and high coloured – be it a valley, the mountains, the prairies or jungles with wild animals, rustic landscapes with peasants’ houses, or city views, like the Eifel tower, Golden Gate or retro cityscapes. There are no strings attached, no retrospective journeys, no symbols of the struggle between man and nature, nature and the time (see romanticists), no run-of-the-mill typical fields, lopsided fences or drab curban routine (see realists), no tricky techniques that make you puff your cheeks, and sagely close your eyes in turn, and find the right place to view the masterpiece from the right angle to have an idea what is depicted there (see impressionists). They look like windows to some fairy-tale world where everything is peaceful and cute – something we all lack in the real world.
