Landscape Painters in Socialist realism

So here is the final verdict on your preferences in art:

Style: socialist realism

Genre: landscape

Realists depicted nature the way it is. Romanticists and academists transformed nature to make the point and highlight its majesty and grandour compared to the frailty of human life. Socialist realism combined both ideas in its own twisted way: people transformed the reality for real. They went out on the limb and tried to turn rivers backwards; they industrialized the country in a wink of an eye, and celebrated the results on their canvases. That explains why lyrical landscapes are not typical of the style, giving the floor to urban images with their dynamic, vehement, transforming themes.

A person who prefers landscapes of socialist realists today is nostalgic of his childhood years. These landscapes surrounded him as he matured, and most of the subjects are still around. This person charishes the grand history of his country, and through the trees of the goals that were never reached he can still see the forest of the socialist vision – to create the fair and unbiased country for free people. He respects and values the tremendous efforts and achievements of his ancestors and the dreams of his parents. The shade of conservatism that comes with this choice makes this person immune to modern political swings. He knows where he comes from and respects the way he is. As for where he is heading for… well, it for you to decide, as “he” is you.
